Burke took control in the opening minute, but RVD answered with a nice thrust kick off the top turnbuckle as Burke was crotched on the top rope. Burke spilled to the outside, then RVD surveyed the scene and hit a somersault flip dive onto Burke. Both men recovered on the floor as they cut to a break.

Out of the break, Burke had RVD on the mat in a rest hold, but RVD escaped. He went for Rolling Thunder, but Burke got his knees up and RVD crashed hard into the bony portion of Burke's knees. Burke then went to a vertical suplex and hit a back drop suplex in one continuous motion. He then put RVD in the Texas Cloverleaf and sat down on RVD's back. RVD escaped, but Burke put him back on the mat and mocked his signature pose. Burke followed with a sick kick to the face before flipping over the top rope to the apron. He then went up top, but RVD cut him off with a kick to the face. RVD followed with a spin kick, then he avoided Burke's corner knee strike finisher and quickly hit a Five Star frog splash for the win. After the match, the New Breed beat down RVD before the Originals made the save.

WINNER: RVD in 12:00. Competitive match and a good opener. Overly choreographed at times, but some quality wrestling holds and moves. (**)
